Separation and divorce are some of the most difficult times a family will experience. During such times there are a number of services available to assist families. Family mediation is a process that provides an opportunity for people, with the assistance of a mediator, to discuss and decide on the resolution of the issues that have arisen as a result of the separation and/or divorce.
An experienced mediator such as Darlene Murphy will provide a safe and structured process for people to have difficult and sometimes emotional discussions, for example how they will continue to parent their children once they are living separate and apart. Other issues that may need to be decided could include child support, special expenses, spousal support and division of property. Family mediation is a process that respects and acknowledges the self determination of the participants and allows an opportunity for families to create agreements that meet their individual needs. We strongly encourage people to obtain independent legal advice related to their legal rights, obligations and entitlements while they are negotiating on their own behalf in mediation.
Darlene Murphy Mediation Services provides a number of services including child protection mediation, civil mediation, training and parent coordination, with a focus on family mediation. She has worked in the area of family mediation for over 16 years with extensive experience working with clients that are involved in Family Court at all stages of the court process. Darlene has also worked extensively with people who have chosen to resolve their issues outside of the Family Court.
Ms Murphy understands that separation and/or divorce takes place on several levels including physical, emotional and legal. We understand the impact that separation and divorce has on families and the services that can effectively support them navigate through these difficult times.
Darlene Murphy follows family mediation best practices therefore each person participating in the process will first have an individual session with Darlene. Once each person has completed their individual session, people meet together with Darlene. In addition Darlene provides afternoon and early evening appointments for mediation.
